Personal Web Pages

NDTC offers space (10meg) for personal web pages free of charge to NDTC internet subscribers. Free web page hosting is for personal use by NDTC subscribers only (Sorry, no commercial or advertising content).

For information regarding business, professional, and commercial web hosting, please contact NDTC.

NDTC is providing this service as a convenience to our valued customers. Because we are providing the page hosting for free, we will be unable to provide any technical support beyond the instructions on this page. If you require additional technical support, please feel free to have your personal page developed, designed, and published by a professional web design firm, or ask a high-school kid to help you.

Technical help:

You will need to create a folder on the server named public_html and the home page of your web site will need to be named index.htm or index.html. The folder and file names ARE CASE SENSETIVE.

Your personal web page location within your NDTC dial-up account may be accessed using the Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP). You will need to obtain FTP software on your own. Advanced users may choose to use special content publishing software, which may be configured to use FTP as the publication protocol.

Click below for instructions on Windows based or DOS FTP:

Bullet WS_FTP (downloaded program)
A graphical program called WS_FTP. There are other programs available, but the general settings are the same. WS_FTP is no longer free of charge. Another suggestion for a free client is Seagull FTP.

Bullet DOS based FTP (included with Windows 95/98)
These instructions describe how to use command-line FTP client software, such as the FTP client included with Windows95/98 dial-up networking.

Bullet PageBreeze HTML Editor is an editor that allows you to create your own web pages. You will also have to have an FTP program in order to publish the pages you create to the web server. You can download PageBreeze here.

Bullet Netscape Composer is an editor that lets you create your own standards-compliant web documents. You don't have to know HTML to use Composer; it is as easy to use as a word processor. Toolbar buttons let you add lists, tables, images, links to other pages, colors, and font styles. You can see what your document will look like on the Web as you create it, and you can easily share your document with other users, no matter what type of browser or HTML capable e-mail program they use. With new One-Button Publishing you can easily save web documents to a server of your choice in just a few clicks. Here is a link to a very good tutorial on how to use Netscape Composer.
